An excellent opportunity has arisen for an immediately available finance professional to join a leading FTSE-listed organisation on an initial 6-month fixed term contract. This role is ideally suited to someone from practice (audit) or a controls-heavy finance environment who is keen to apply their technical accounting knowledge in a large, complex, and regulated business. The contract offers a strong entry point into a high-performing finance function.
The Role
You will be part of a central Financial Reporting & Controls team, with a core focus on reviewing, assessing, and improving the financial control environment across the business. Working closely with finance teams and operational stakeholders, you will help strengthen controls, support remediation activity, and contribute to the continued evolution of the financial controls framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and test the design and operating effectiveness of financial controls, acting as a second line of defence
- Partner with process owners to identify weaknesses, agree improvement actions, and track remediation to completion
- Support the embedding and ongoing enhancement of the financial controls framework, promoting awareness and accountability
- Maintain controls documentation and reporting, including use of a GRC / controls monitoring tool
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, responding to queries and supporting audit outcomes
- Provide clear updates and insight to senior finance stakeholders on control effectiveness and progress
About You
- Ideally ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- Background in audit or a finance role with significant exposure to financial controls
- Experience assessing, implementing, or monitoring financial control frameworks
- Strong technical accounting capability, able to explain complex issues to non-technical audiences
- Comfortable challenging existing processes and driving improvement
- Confident communicator with experience working alongside senior stakeholders
