We are working on behalf of a well-established organisation with a nationwide presence to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. This is a key leadership role within the finance function, managing a small team and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of finance activities across the business. The successful candidate will be a confident people manager with a proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will have responsibility for the finance team, consisting of 5 direct reports (3 full-time, 2 part-time), and will oversee core financial operations while supporting business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the finance team, ensuring all monthly and routine finance tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Oversee monthly management accounts preparation, including reconciliations and variance analysis
- Perform and review balance sheet and control account reconciliations
- Monitor monthly actual costs, providing insight and commentary
- Produce and maintain a suite of cost reports, trend analysis, and financial summaries
- Ensure payroll is accurately checked, approved, and submitted within deadlines
- Provide audit support, including preparation and maintenance of supporting documentation
- Oversee stock take processes, monitoring discrepancies and accounting for adjustments
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and statutory requirements
- Act as a key point of contact for finance-related queries across the business
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
About You
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar role
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage day-to-day finance operations effectively
- Solid understanding of reconciliations, reporting, and financial controls
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
Benefits
- Salary of £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the Winchester office and 3 days from home
- 28 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays
