We are looking for an Irrigation Operative to join our UK Leaf Farming team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring crops receive accurate and timely irrigation, supporting strong and healthy plant growth throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute scheduled irrigation procedures with accuracy, ensuring crops receive the correct water volume at the right time.
  • Maintain accurate daily irrigation records.
  • Carry out proactive maintenance and essential repairs on irrigation equipment, including pipelines, hose reels and booms, reporting issues to your line manager.
  • Provide operational support during low irrigation demand, including tasks such as mowing, strimming, planting, harvesting, weeding and netting.
  • Drive large tractors on public roads safely and competently.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Undertake any additional duties as required by your manager.

Working Conditions

  • Farm-based role, working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physically demanding work, including walking long distances on uneven ground and handling irrigation equipment.
  • Seasonal and weather-dependent working patterns requiring flexibility.
  • During peak periods (e.g., heatwaves), the role may involve early mornings, late evenings and weekend work.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills:

  • Full driving licence.
  • Competent tractor driver.
  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks.
  • Reasonable level of spoken English for Health & Safety communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
