Vitacress Salads is looking for a Night Hygiene Team Leader to join our Hygiene team at St. Mary Bourne. This is a key leadership role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring our production environment meets the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
You’ll lead a team of 11 Hygiene Operatives, planning and coordinating all hygiene activities to support production and ensure compliance with internal standards, customer expectations, and external audits.
- Plan and manage daily and periodic cleaning schedules in line with production needs.
- Coordinate cleaning across all production areas, including equipment, floors, walls, and high‑level areas.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering to minimise disruption.
- Maintain hygiene timesheets during the Hygiene Manager’s absence.
Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure all hygiene activities meet internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Keep cleaning, training, and hygiene records accurate and up to date.
- Monitor chemical use, storage, and dilution in line with COSHH regulations.
- Carry out hygiene inspections and allergen swab testing.
- Identify non‑conformances and support corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in hygiene processes.
Train and coach Hygiene Operatives on food safety and sanitation best practice. Lead and motivate the night hygiene team during shifts and deep cleans. Act as a key link between Hygiene, Operations, QA, and Engineering. Promote a strong food safety and accountability culture. This is a factory-floor-based role within a food manufacturing environment, involving regular use of PPE and cleaning chemicals. It is a physically active role involving standing, lifting, and operating cleaning equipment, with cold and wet working conditions at times.

- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC).
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
