Salary: £28-30,000 subject to experience

Working Hours: 45 hours per week

Choi Wan has landed at House of Social Food Hall, Manchester’s hottest new food hall. This kitchen is all about serving up next-level Cantonese-inspired street food — with deep roots and big flavours to back it up. Delivering bold, vibrant pan-Asian dishes rooted in Cantonese tradition with a street-food twist. We\’re looking for an experienced Asian Cuisine Chef with a deep appreciation for flavour, precision, and speed.

Our Asian Cuisine Chef

Will work closely with the founders of Choi Wan and House of Social Food Hall\’s Head of Food & Beverage to uphold the brand’s creative vision while ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in service.

  • Execute the daily prep and service of the Choi Wan menu.
  • Uphold exacting standards in seasoning, presentation, and cooking techniques – every dish should be both comforting and exciting.
  • Maintain consistency and pace during busy service periods in a high-volume environment.
  • Follow established prep lists and recipes while contributing suggestions to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure rigorous hygiene and food safety standards at all times (including allergen procedures and COSHH compliance).
  • Collaborate with the wider kitchen team to manage stock levels and prep planning in line with footfall and event expectations.
  • Assist in onboarding and supporting Junior Chefs and Kitchen Porters with clear instruction and standards.
  • Be a proud representative of Choi Wan\’s ethos: soulful food, executed with purpose and care.

Choi Wan is an ambitious brand with future expansion plans. We\’re looking for an experienced and ambitious chef to grow with our business, ideally into a Senior Chef or Kitchen Lead as new sites develop, including involvement in new menu launches and team building.

Professional Experience

  • Proven experience working in a high-paced kitchen, within Asian cuisine.
  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of core Asian cooking methods (wok cooking, steaming, frying, broths).
  • Experience in a street food, food hall, or fast-paced casual dining setup.
  • Familiarity with pan-Asian menus, small plates, and modern takes on traditional dishes.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling procedures.

Personal Characteristics

  • A passion for recipe development or creative specials. Highly organised with the ability to plan and deliver prep ahead of time.
  • Confidence on a solo section or during quiet shifts, with ability to multi-task across prep and service.
  • Reliable, consistent, and passionate about the food you cook.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional offsite events.
  • You must be a strong team player with a passion for working with people and customers.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • High personal standards and attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and flexible.
