The Role

As Estimating Manager, you will take responsibility for leading and developing a team of six Estimators, overseeing tenders ranging from £100,000 to £10 million across a diverse portfolio of public sector construction projects. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in securing future projects, improving estimating procedures, and supporting the company's ongoing growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, mentor and develop a team of six Estimators.
  • Oversee the preparation, review and submission of competitive tenders and estimates.
  • Ensure all submissions are accurate, commercially robust and delivered within required timescales.
  • Prepare and review pricing for new-build and refurbishment construction projects.
  • Analyse tender documentation, specifications and project requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes, systems and efficiencies.
  • Support tender strategies and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Provide commercial insight, reporting and forecasting to senior management.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing fluctuations and industry developments.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as an Estimating Manager or Senior Estimator within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of both new-build and refurbishment projects.
  • Previous experience pricing and tendering for public sector projects.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and cost planning expertise.
  • Experience leading, mentoring or managing estimating teams.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach with a strong attention to detail.
