The Role
As Estimating Manager, you will take responsibility for leading and developing a team of six Estimators, overseeing tenders ranging from £100,000 to £10 million across a diverse portfolio of public sector construction projects. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in securing future projects, improving estimating procedures, and supporting the company's ongoing growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, mentor and develop a team of six Estimators.
- Oversee the preparation, review and submission of competitive tenders and estimates.
- Ensure all submissions are accurate, commercially robust and delivered within required timescales.
- Prepare and review pricing for new-build and refurbishment construction projects.
- Analyse tender documentation, specifications and project requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes, systems and efficiencies.
- Support tender strategies and contribute to business development initiatives.
- Provide commercial insight, reporting and forecasting to senior management.
- Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing fluctuations and industry developments.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience as an Estimating Manager or Senior Estimator within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of both new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Previous experience pricing and tendering for public sector projects.
- Excellent commercial awareness and cost planning expertise.
- Experience leading, mentoring or managing estimating teams.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
