We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee construction works on a live school project in Southampton, so you must have Enhanced DBS. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised Site Manager with a strong background in delivering construction projects safely, on time and to a high standard. As the project will be carried out within a live educational environment, maintaining the highest levels of health and safety, communication and site control is essential.

The Role

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, manage site activities and maintain excellent communication with the project team while ensuring minimal disruption within the live school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the construction site.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure work is completed to programme and quality standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, secure and well-organised site at all times.
  • Coordinate site logistics and daily activities.
  • Carry out site inspections and monitor the quality of workmanship.
  • Manage site documentation, including site diaries and health and safety records.
  • Chair and attend site meetings as required.
  • Liaise with the client, project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve site issues quickly to minimise delays.
  • Ensure works are carried out with minimal disruption to the school's staff, pupils and day-to-day operations.

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident leading teams in a busy construction environment and who has excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be proactive, solutions-focused and capable of making informed decisions while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Manager on construction projects.
  • Experience working on live occupied sites, ideally within schools or other public buildings.
  • Valid SMSTS qualification.
  • Valid First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (essential due to the nature of the project).
  • Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent leadership and subcontractor management skills.
  • Ability to manage programmes, deadlines and multiple workstreams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence.
