Are you an experienced Document Control Lead or Senior Document Controller looking for your next challenge? We are recruiting for a highly organised and proactive professional to lead the document control function across multiple high-profile MEP construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business where you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently through effective document management, strong leadership and continuous process improvement.

You will be confident managing multiple priorities, solving problems as they arise and working collaboratively with project teams to keep information flowing and projects on track.

Reporting to the Business Strategy Manager, you will take ownership of document control processes across multiple projects while leading and developing a team of Document Controllers and project support staff. Working closely with project managers, design teams, engineers, commercial teams, subcontractors and site teams, you will ensure technical documentation is managed accurately and efficiently throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead and manage the document control and project administration function across multiple construction projects.
  • Line manage, mentor and develop a team of Document Controllers and project support staff.
  • Plan workloads, allocate resources and ensure the team effectively supports project delivery.
  • Conduct one-to-one meetings, probation reviews, appraisals and performance reviews.
  • Establish and maintain document control procedures, standards and best practices.
  • Manage project documentation throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Control drawing registers, RFIs, technical submissions, transmittals and project correspondence.
  • Ensure drawings and documentation are issued, filed and archived accurately and in line with company procedures.
  • Monitor drawing revisions to ensure project teams are always working from the latest approved information.
  • Coordinate with design teams, engineers, subcontractors and site teams to ensure timely distribution of project information.
  • Support the preparation of O&M manuals and project handover documentation.
  • Produce document control reports, KPIs and management dashboards.
  • Act as a key point of contact for document control queries, troubleshooting issues and providing practical solutions to keep projects moving.

You will have previous experience within the construction industry, ideally working on MEP or building services projects, and be confident managing both project documentation and people. You'll be confident identifying issues, troubleshooting problems and implementing effective solutions while building strong working relationships across project teams.

  • Previous experience as a Document Control Lead, Senior Document Controller or similar leadership role.
  • Experience within an MEP, building services or construction environment.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising and developing Document Controllers or project administration teams.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Experience using document management systems such as Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint, Procore or SharePoint.
  • Qualification in Business Administration, Information Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and document management best practice.
  • Relevant document control or information management qualifications.
