About the Company

Our client, a successful and growing main contractor based in South Woodford, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a strong architectural background who is looking to take a key role in delivering high-quality construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring all designs are coordinated, buildable, compliant, and delivered in line with programme requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple construction projects
  • Review and manage design information to ensure accuracy, buildability, and compliance
  • Coordinate architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams
  • Monitor design programmes and ensure information is issued in line with project requirements
  • Identify and resolve design issues throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance with current Building Regulations, planning conditions, and client specifications
  • Attend design team meetings and provide technical guidance where required
  • Support project teams during both pre-construction and delivery phases
  • Manage design risks and contribute to successful project outcomes

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a Design Manager within the construction industry
  • Architectural background is essential
  • Experience working for a main contractor, or strong understanding of main contractor delivery
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction detailing and Building Regulations
  • Excellent understanding of the design and construction process
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate complex design packages
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in reviewing technical drawings and construction documentation
