Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated, caring and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our friendly multidisciplinary primary care team. You will deliver safe, effective and person-centered nursing care to our practice population. This role involves managing a diverse clinical caseload and working both independently and alongside our practice team to promote patient health and wellbeing. This will primarily be based in our Bexhill Practices.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a wide range of primary care nursing services, focusing on preventative care, acute treatments, and long-term condition management.

Chronic Disease Management:

Running independent clinics for asthma, COPD and diabetes, including updating care plans and regular medication reviews.

Routine Clinical Procedures:

Executing daily nursing interventions such as wound care and compression, suture removal, ear irrigation.

Screening & Women's Health:

Performing cervical cytology screening (smear tests), providing contraceptive advice, and supporting family planning clinics.

Immunisations & Vaccinations:

Administering routine childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, and adult vaccinations under Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

About us

We are a growing GP practice with 10 sites, looking after a total practice population of 47,000 patients.

Our Bexhill sites consists of 4 buildings where our patients can be seen in Bexhill and Ninfield. We have a small, friendly nursing team who work along side the GP's, admin team and allied HCP's

Job responsibilities

The Practice Nurse will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary general practice team to deliver evidence-based, high-quality nursing care to the practice population. The post holder will utilise their clinical skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, working autonomously within their professional scope of practice.

(Note: While independent prescribing is not a requirement for this role, the candidate must be confident working under Patient Group Directions).

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Clinical Practice & Administration

  • Assess physical, psychological, and social needs of patients presenting with a variety of health conditions.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous electronic patient records in line with NMC guidelines using the EMIS Web clinical system.
  • Recognise, interpret, and act upon critical physiological and psychological signs, escalating to a GP when appropriate.
  • Support the practice in meeting Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and other local enhanced service initiatives through accurate data entry in EMIS Web.

2. Quality and Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Maintain professional registration and comply with the NMC Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Participate in clinical audits, significant event reviews, and peer-to-peer case reviews to continually improve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure cold chain maintenance for vaccines and correct storage/disposal of hazardous materials and clinical waste.

3. Collaborative Working & Professional Development

  • Work seamlessly alongside GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, The Nursing team and administrative teams.
  • Actively engage in annual appraisals and fulfill continuous professional development (CPD) requirements for NMC revalidation.
  • Assist in the mentoring and training of student nurses or junior clinical staff if required.

  • Competent in complex wound care and compression

Desirable

  • Familiar with EMIS
