Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner - Derbyshire

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our Talking Therapies (TT) service in Derbyshire.

In this role you will provide Low Intensity interventions whilst undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate delivered face‑to‑face by De Montfort University starting September 2026. The training equips you to provide Step 2 Guided Self‑Help Low Intensity Interventions for common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression in primary care.

Supported by skilled supervisors, you will complete academic study and clinical delivery over a fixed term of 12 months. After successful completion you may apply for a permanent PWP post.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Low Intensity CBT‑based interventions to clients with anxiety and depression.
  • Record and report progress in line with service protocols.
  • Attend training and supervision sessions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or evidence of successful study at RQF Level 5 or above.
  • At least one year’s experience working with people with mental health problems.
  • Evidence of the ability to study successfully at undergraduate year 1 level or equivalent.
  • Flexible to provide out‑of‑hours clinics as required.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion.
  • Prior mental health experience or training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, art therapy, psychology, or a related health degree.

  • Applicants who have completed an NHS‑funded psychological training programme within the last two years are not eligible.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK without restriction and be eligible for Home Fee status.
  • Training fees may need to be repaid if employment is terminated during or at the end of the course.
