We are looking for aspiring Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) to join our Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies service as Trainee PWPs in the September 2026 cohort at the University of Lincoln.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will provide low‑intensity CBT‑based interventions while undertaking the PGCert Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner programme at the University of Lincoln. The training post equips you with the skills and knowledge to deliver evidence‑based treatment to clients with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

Job responsibilities

  • You will work within a motivated team of mental health professionals and experienced supervisors to support your academic study and clinical delivery.
  • A typical week includes four days of clinical practice with the service and one day of university training, which must be attended in person.
  • Some remote work may be required, with a mandatory presence in a Nottingham office for part of the week.
  • You may also need to provide out‑of‑hours clinics, including one late shift from 12 pm to 8 pm.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least three GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths or Statistics.
  • Minimum of one passed A level or equivalent Level 3 qualification.
  • Ability to perform at academic Level 6.
  • Evidenced at least one year of work experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties.
  • Evidenced interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients.
  • Evidenced openness to learning new knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent administrative and time‑management skills.
  • Flexibility to provide out‑of‑hours clinics (one late shift of 12–8 pm required).
  • Commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion.
  • Good degree (2:2 or above; a third‑class degree may be considered for the undergraduate route).
  • English language proficiency (minimum IELTS overall score of 7.5 with no element below 7.0, Pearson Test of English Academic 73 or CELE pre‑sessional course Pass with High Distinction).
  • You do not need a DBS if you completed an NHS‑funded psychological professions training programme in the last two years.

Additional requirements

  • All shortlisted candidates must submit a 1,000‑word short report addressing a question set by the programme team at the University of Lincoln by the application deadline.
  • Applicants must be available for interviews in the week commencing 22nd or 29th June 2026 (interviews conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams).
  • Applicants must be available to commence in‑service induction (remote) on 7 September and University induction on 15 September 2026.
  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for appointment to the post.
  • Only candidates with the right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status may be recruited.
