Hello! We are Vita Health Group, the lead provider of NHS Talking Therapies services across Newcastle. We provide vital mental health support to clients aged 16+ within the practice area and see the life‑changing impact of our work every day.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity CBT‑based interventions while undertaking the Low Intensity Psychological Therapy PGCert delivered by Newcastle University, commencing September 2026. The training post will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence‑based treatment to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide Low Intensity CBT‑based interventions
  • Undertake academic study
  • Complete clinical delivery with supervision

Qualifications & experience

  • Undergraduate degree or evidence of Level 5/6 regulated qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties
  • Interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients
  • Openness to learning new knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent administrative and time‑management skills
  • Flexibility to provide out‑of‑hours clinics as required (including one late shift of 12‑8 pm toward the end of the training year)
  • Aware of and committed to diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge and use of CBT techniques for common mental health difficulties
  • Experience of telephone and remote working

Other requirements

  • Applicants must submit a personal statement outlining the reasons for applying and summarising relevant experience.
  • Shortlisted applicants must be available for interviews held w/c 29th June 2026 (remote via Microsoft Teams).
  • Applicants must be available to commence the role on 14th September 2026 and to attend the first day of training with Newcastle University on 12th October 2026.
  • A DBS check will be required by the service at appointment to post.
  • Applicants who have completed an NHS‑funded psychological professions training programme within the last two years are not eligible to apply.
  • Only candidates with the right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status can be recruited. Visa holders must have the right to work and study in the UK.
