Our Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner programme offers training in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while you are paid to make a real difference. This is a fixed-term 12-month post based in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. You will undertake the Post-Graduate Certificate delivered by the University of Exeter beginning 8 September 2026 while providing evidence-based treatment to clients with anxiety, depression and other common mental health problems.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver Low Intensity CBT-based interventions to clients.
- Engage with patients, build therapeutic alliances and provide remote attendance as required.
- Attend clinical supervision and academic study sessions; attend 3 days per week of clinical practice and 2 days per week of university training.
- Provide out-of-hours appointments when required (e.g., one early shift, 12-8pm on Mondays or Tuesdays).
- Complete and submit personal statement outlining reasons for applying and relevant experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate degree or evidence of successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 6.
- At least one year's experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties (including voluntary work).
- Interpersonal skills to engage patients and colleagues.
- Openness to learning new knowledge and skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Telephone working experience.
Other Requirements
- Availability to attend interviews week commencing 29 June 2026 (remote via Teams) after shortlisting week commencing 15 June 2026.
- Availability to commence the role week commencing 31 August 2026 for onsite induction.
- Availability for all university days starting 8 September 2026.
- Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
- Not eligible if you completed an NHS-funded psychological professions training programme within last 2 years.
- Right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status.
