Salary: £28,500 per annum plus bonus - see benefits section for more details.

Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours per week.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 6pm (Flexibility may be offered).

Our Maintenance Operatives play a critical function, ensuring the smooth running of operational building facilities. This is a customer‑facing environment where you will be responsible for maintaining Vita Student’s highest building standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • General repairs such as fixing minor issues like leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.
  • Perform minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture and touch‑up painting & decorating.
  • Ground works, maintaining the upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass‑cutting and hedge‑trimming/shaping.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.

Professional Experience:

  • Experience delivering preventive and corrective fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance.
  • Skilled across a variety of maintenance functions.
  • Well‑versed in delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within a similar environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding and adherence to safety compliance regulations and procedures.
  • IT literate.

  • Excellent communication skills. English will be the primary spoken language; however multilingual skills would be warmly welcomed.

  • Resilience, with the ability to effectively navigate unexpected situations.
  • Able to carry out tasks that may involve extended periods of standing and repetitive movements, with reasonable adjustments considered where required.
