Visum Recruitment is working with a leading engineering manufacturer who are seeking an Area Sales Manager to take ownership of a high-performing territory across the North West of England and North Wales. This is a key commercial role focused on driving growth across a broad portfolio of valves and steam system solutions, working with contractors, OEMs, end users, and distributors across multiple industrial sectors including food & beverage, chemical, NHS, and general industry.

The role is a mix of account management and new business development, with responsibility for managing existing relationships while actively identifying and securing new project opportunities.

Role Overview
  • Take full ownership of sales activity across the North West & North Wales region
  • Develop new business opportunities while managing and growing existing accounts
  • Engage with contractors, OEMs, distributors, and end users across key sectors
  • Identify, develop, and convert project-led sales opportunities
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate specifications, and manage tender processes
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting
  • Deliver against regional sales and profitability targets
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven background in external B2B sales within mechanical engineering or technical products
  • Experience working with end users and project-led sales environments
  • Strong understanding of steam systems or related mechanical/industrial systems (advantageous)
  • HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong commercial awareness with a track record of winning new business
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
  • Must be based within the territory (North West / North Wales)

Circa £65,000 basic salary + bonus scheme
