We are seeking an accomplished Business Development professional to drive strategic growth across the UK and Northern European Data Centre markets, establishing our organisation as a trusted partner within this rapidly expanding, mission-critical industry. This is a senior, high-impact role offering ownership of market development strategy, early project engagement, and long-term business growth across hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge Data Centre environments.
Working within a highly technical and specification-driven market, you will engage with key decision-makers throughout the Data Centre ecosystem—from owners and developers to consultants, EPC contractors, and design-and-build organisations. Your focus will be on influencing project specifications, developing strategic relationships, and securing a strong position on complex, high-value infrastructure projects. Combining commercial leadership with technical understanding, this role provides significant autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to play a key role in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the business growth strategy for the Data Centre and Critical Infrastructure sector across the UK and Northern Europe.
- Identify and secure new opportunities within hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge Data Centre markets.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with Data Centre owners and developers, engineering consultants and specification partners, EPC contractors, design-and-build firms, and general contractors.
- Engage with projects at an early stage to influence technical specifications and solution selection.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and technical teams to deliver tailored customer solutions.
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline, maintaining accurate forecasting and CRM discipline.
- Lead commercial discussions, tender submissions, and contract negotiations for major infrastructure projects.
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborative growth initiatives.
- Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.
- 7–10+ years of business development experience within Data Centres, Critical Infrastructure, or related technical sectors such as power, cooling, electrical systems, or building technologies.
- Strong understanding of the Data Centre project lifecycle and specification-led sales processes.
- Proven success engaging with owners, consultants, EPC contractors, and construction partners.
- Ability to navigate technically complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, with an engineering background viewed favourably.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%).
