As an SEO Executive, you are the delivery role of your POD. Your role is to support the Senior Account Directors and Account Directors by executing the technical, strategic, and PR tasks required to drive client performance. You are an executor, someone who takes a brief from a strategist and turns it into action. You will work across two key disciplines: SEO Strategy (audits, research, and on-site implementation) and Digital PR (media list building, outreach, and coverage tracking). The role may also include elements of Content and Tech but as those disciplines have dedicated functions it will be minimal, enough to grow your knowledge and expose you but not a core part of the role. While this is a non-client facing role focused on execution, it is designed as a clear pathway for career progression. We will provide full training to give you a holistic understanding of the wider SEO mix. Our ambition is for you to grow into an Account Director role where you will eventually manage your own portfolio and lead client strategy.

Key duties

  • SEO Strategy and Execution
    • Auditing & Analysis: Conduct detailed technical audits, content audits, backlink profiles and other audits as briefed by the Account Directors. You will compile the raw data and initial findings for the AD to use.
    • Keyword Research: Perform in-depth keyword research and competitor gap analysis to identify new opportunities for our clients.
    • Implementation: Take ownership of on-site changes. This includes uploading content to client CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress, Shopify, Magento), optimising meta data, fixing broken links, and implementing internal linking strategies.
    • Quality Control: Conduct meaningful checks on all deliverables to ensure they meet the agency's high standards before they are passed to the Account Director.
  • Digital PR Delivery
    • Outreach: Execute PR campaigns by conducting outreach to journalists, bloggers, and editors. You will be the person sending the emails and pitching the stories.
    • Media Relations: Build and maintain targeted media lists using our PR database tools. Monitor proactive opportunities (e.g. #journorequest) and flag relevant queries to the POD.
    • Asset Creation: Support the creation of press releases and campaign assets, ensuring they are formatted correctly and ready for distribution.
    • Coverage Tracking: Monitor and record all secured coverage, ensuring that links are live and metrics are accurately reported in our system.
  • Reporting and Data
    • Performance Reporting: Compile data reports for the POD. You will pull data from GA4, Search Console, and rank tracking tools to provide the Account Directors with the stats they need for client meetings or strategic planning.
    • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Respond to quick-turnaround data requests from the POD to support strategy pivots or answer specific client queries.
  • Training and Progression
    • Holistic Learning: Actively participate in training sessions across all pillars (Strategy, Content, Tech, and PR). We want you to understand how the entire SEO machine works, not just your specific tasks.
    • Career Development: Work with your Line Manager to build a Personal Development Plan (PDP) focused on the soft skills and strategic thinking required to become an Account Director.

Requirements

  • Essential
    • Experience: in an SEO or Digital Marketing role, ideally within an agency environment.
    • Digital Marketing Competence: An understanding of SEO fundamentals (what it is, why it’s needed, how it’s done). You know your way around the channel, many of the tools and the principles of SEO.
    • PR Fundamentals: Experience with the basics of Digital PR, including building media lists, writing pitch emails, and understanding what makes a story "newsworthy".
  • Desirable
    • Tool Proficiency: Competent user of core industry tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, and Screaming Frog. Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.
    • CMS Skills: Experience using standard Content Management Systems (WordPress, Shopify, etc) to upload content and make basic changes.

  • Essential
    • The "Finisher" Mindset: You enjoy getting tasks done on time. You take pride in completing work efficiently and accurately.

    • Organised: You can handle requests from multiple Account Directors simultaneously without losing track of deadlines.
    • Proactive: If you see a way to do a task faster or better, you suggest it. You do not just wait for instructions if you have finished your work; you ask how you can help.
