We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Finance team, to be based from our Stockton‑on‑Tees office. Job Type: Full‑time, part‑time considered. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day operations of the Finance department, ensuring financial transactions and records are processed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase Ledger & Transaction Processing
- Process purchase ledger invoices and credit notes accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform purchase order to purchase invoice matching (PO to PI matching)
- Manage and monitor the finance/accounts inbox, responding to queries professionally and efficiently
- Process fortnightly mileage and expense payment runs
- Maintain and update departmental spend trackers
- Support the maintenance of budget trackers
- Reconciliations & Financial Control
- Complete daily bank reconciliations and postings
- Perform company credit card reconciliations
- Produce monthly PO exceptional reporting
Requirements
Essential
- Experience: Previous experience in finance or accounting roles
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel; experience with Sage or similar
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy for handling financial data
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external partners
- Organisational Skills: Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable
- Education: AAT Level 2 or equivalent (or qualified by experience)
- Experience with reconciliations, reporting, and month‑end processes
- Experience working in a fast‑paced commercial environment
