We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our team within Vistry North Midlands, at our Castle Donington office. As our Buyer, you will be responsible for the procurement of materials and plant to the Company’s exact requirements, ensuring goods are delivered on the required date and purchased at the most competitive rates within the available budget allowance. As a Buyer, you will provide a full range of cost control and financial reporting duties on all aspects of materials for construction work. Alongside the Senior Buyer, you will be accountable and responsible for the performance of the sites in your control.

More about the Buyer role:
- Ensure quality and performance of materials fall in line with acceptable standards.
- Consolidate purchases of materials to achieve maximum economic benefit.
- Encourage and develop wherever feasible, negotiated agreements with supplier and manufacturers.
- Inform other departments of all relevant information regarding changes in materials, major price movements, delivery lead times and individual supply situations.
- To purchase where appropriate in accordance with Group purchase deals.
- Identify and "take off" where necessary materials.
- Prepare all relevant documentation, procuring additional materials not covered by schedules and placing supplementary orders.
- Send out enquiries for appropriate materials, collate and analyse quotations.
- Place orders with suitable suppliers for specified materials.
- Placing orders for plant equipment as required by site, including negotiating prices by liaising with the Construction Director for the compound layout/site set-up.
- You will be responsible for preparing the CPC1 (Materials Costs) which includes:
- Providing/obtaining material schedules from working drawings
- Preparing the tender list for major materials
- Preparing all of the tender documentation and letters
- The analysis of quotations resulting from tender enquiries
- Inputting material schedules on to the appropriate computer systems
- Producing materials budgets for surveyors
- Advise Surveyors costs for budgetary purposes.
