We have a great opportunity for a Buyer to join our team within Vistry South East Midlands, at our office in Enderby, Leicestershire. As our Buyer, you will be responsible for working on numerous Housing and Retirement Village Schemes throughout the South East Midlands Region, involving predominantly procurement of Sub-Contract packages.   • A good understanding of building contracts (JCT), development agreements and domestic sub-contracts

More about the Buyer role…

  • Placement of Sub-Contract Orders in accordance with budget, specification, and programme constraints whilst also adhering to our group deal requirements wherever possible.
  • The above will include creation of trades tender lists, producing enquiry packages, negotiating best price, and comparing returned tenders to present to the commercial/site team(s) ahead of arranging (and chairing) pre-order meetings.
  • Raising Low Value sub-contract orders.
  • Liaise with our Group Supply Chain, managing and developing sub-contractor relationships, whilst promoting the best interests of Vistry Group.
  • Review potential gaps in supply chain/risks.
  • Manage preferred and approved sub-contractor lists.
  • KPI review and reporting.
  • Assisting procurement manager in providing subcontract package information relevant to other departments, including Group, as and when may be required.
  • Production of buying reports detailing profit/loss against allowance.
  • Procurement Schedule management and upkeep on relevant sites.
  • Obtaining and providing data for sustainability reporting to relevant parties.
  • Carrying out value engineering exercises against specified trades/materials.
  • Inform Head of Commercial of any occasions where loss of rebate may occur.
  • Attend hand over meetings for new schemes.
  • Any other reasonable buying department related tasks as directed by the Head of Commercial or referred to in the Buying Procedures Manual.

Dependent on experience the successful applicant may be considered for the role of Senior Subcontract Buyer, in which case the additional tasks will form part of the role…

  • Managing standard document project templates for sub-contracts.
  • Identify potential new sub-contractors.
  • Manage negotiation of sub-contract amendments.
  • Review with MQS/HoC.
  • Manage Scope library.
  • Compile information for Group rebate info collection.
  • Compile information for Group procurement pipeline report.
  • Assist Pre-Con with sub-contractor lists for future tenders.
  • Attend Pre-Con bid meetings and design hand overs.
  • Potentially interviewing and appointing staff (with Head of Commercial).
  • Potentially managing probation period for new staff (with Head of Commercial).
  • Potentially arranging/attending/writing up PDRs of new staff (with Head of Commercial).
  • Potentially managing performance of new staff (with Head of Commercial).
