We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Timber Frame Installer to join Vistry Works, the manufacturing arm of Vistry Group. Starting from September 2026, you will learn the trade of erecting pre-manufactured timber frame homes out on our construction sites. This is the second cohort of this programme, following our successful trailblazer launch in 2025.
With growing demand for sustainable housing, faster build times, reduced vulnerability to labour shortages and improved energy efficiency, timber frame construction is emerging as a strong and innovative alternative to traditional brick and block methods. As a Trainee Timber Frame Installer, you will be immersed in the theoretical and practical applications of the role associated with successful implementation of works on a given project. You will gain an understanding of the health, safety and environmental principles associated with the Timber Frame construction environment, and the Quality Assurance processes and procedures related to the products and services that Vistry Works provides to the wider Vistry Group.
Furthermore, you will gain an understanding of:
- Build programme and product/component scheduling requirements
- Related time allocation and build sequencing understanding
- Awareness and application of project specific specifications and details
- Technical design knowledge and understanding
- Exposure to customer service elements associated with timber frame operations within the wider business
Alongside the hands-on experience we will give you, you will also work towards a Level 2 Construction Assembly Installation Operative Apprenticeship, in partnership with a registered training provider. You will generally be working as part of a team of between 3-4 people, with the anticipated site locations for these Timber Frame Installer Trainee positions to be in: Cotswolds, Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire/Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire, and North West Midlands.

- To effectively help to implement and control all site-based activities in line with specific project requirements, company policies and procedures
- Implement excellent health and safety standards on construction projects
- Assist with planning and carrying out necessary works in the required timeframes
- Manage the quality of works according to technical specifications and design details provided, in line with approved building regulations and industry standards
- Awareness of budgetary constraints, cost control and commercial implications
- Monitor and feedback accordingly on any issues arising from either the client or Vistry Works’ functions, products and services
- Provide and record necessary Quality Assurance feedback throughout the project
- Minimise waste and provide feedback on any potential value engineering possibilities
- Minimise the environmental impact of construction projects wherever possible
