In a Nutshell…We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Supervisor to join our team within Vistry Works East Midlands, at our Bardon Factory in Coalville. As our Logistics Supervisor, you will report directly to the Materials Manager and be responsible for the management of a Logistics team within a timber frame manufacturing facility. You will work across all automated and manual production lines, maintaining the highest level of safety, environmental and on time in full standards. This role will operate on an AM shift from 6am-2pm Monday to Friday.

More about the Logistics Supervisor role…

  • Supervision of logistics staff.
  • Manage staffing requirements in the logistics teams including interviews and inductions.
  • Ensure all direct reports are suitably trained to carry out their assigned roles, managing all holidays and absences.
  • Carry out any investigations, performance management or other duties as required.
  • You will understand and observe health and safety rules and be aware of the safety of self and others to promote a safe working environment and culture.
  • Leading by example ensuring that RAMS / safe working practices are followed and site rules obeyed.
  • Address all instances of poor behaviour in line with company policies and disciplinary procedures.
  • Carry out all SHE duties including regular surveys of the factory and yard, maintaining housekeeping, ensuring goods are stored correctly and identifying any potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements in the operation of FLT and other equipment on site including: Manage FLT daily shift check sheets. Forward any plant concerns to the Materials Manager in a timely manner.
  • Inform the Production manager immediately of any faults that occur on plant during a shift.
  • Monthly checking of driver FLT license dates ensuring all licenses have at least 3 months to expiry.
  • Hosting ‘stand-up’ with the logistics team at the start of shift, completing the staff register and ensuring all tasks are completed by changing daily roles as required, supporting the Management 3pm ‘Stand-up’ briefing key information to direct reports.
  • Working with appropriate teams to ensure a smooth flow of goods in, removal of WIP and dispatch of finished goods.
  • Ensure that all material requirements are in place for manufacturing, resolving material shortages where possible, or escalating any issues.
  • Daily management of waste levels.
  • End of shift hand over and reporting.
  • You will work collaboratively with the opposite shift, ensuring that both shifts work as one team to achieve shared goals and targets.
  • You will ensure all safety and environmental policies are adhered to and applied consistently, including carrying out various checks and recording all data associated with them.
  • You will be alert to ‘right first time’ quality standards, informing others where standards are not met so that they can take appropriate action as required to contribute to the production of a quality product.
  • You will be flexible and willing to assist in busier periods where necessary, taking a hands-on role to ensure that logistic schedules are met.
  • You will be able to identify, communicate and implement opportunities for continuously improving working methods and seeking efficiencies.
  • You will be required to carry out any reasonable tasks or operations as directed by your line manager in the course of your duties.
