What you’ll do

• Provide expert legal advice on matters related to data privacy, including GDPR compliance, data protection impact assessments, and data subject rights.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements, partnership agreements, and vendor contracts, ensuring alignment with business goals and legal standards.
• Collaborate with product development teams to assess legal risks associated with AI technologies and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor and interpret changes in data privacy laws and regulations, advising the organization on necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
• Conduct training sessions for employees on data privacy and AI-related legal issues, fostering a culture of compliance within the organization.
• Act as a liaison with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies, representing the company's interests in legal matters and ensuring effective communication.
• Develop and implement internal policies and procedures related to data privacy and AI, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with current legislation.
• Support the business in responding to data breaches and incidents, including managing investigations and liaising with regulatory authorities as required.
• Provide legal support for marketing initiatives, ensuring compliance with advertising laws and regulations, particularly in relation to AI-driven products.
• Assist in the development of risk management strategies related to data privacy and AI, identifying potential legal issues and proposing solutions.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to provide legal insights that support strategic business decisions and initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of legal documents and correspondence, ensuring that all legal activities are documented and easily accessible.

Requirements

• A qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data privacy, commercial law, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations, with practical experience in compliance and risk management.
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, particularly in the technology or SaaS sectors.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and their legal implications, including ethical considerations and regulatory challenges.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders effectively.
• Experience in conducting legal training and workshops, promoting a culture of compliance within organizations.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in legal documentation and compliance efforts.

• Experience working in a SaaS or technology-focused organization, particularly in roles related to legal counsel or compliance.
