We are looking for a Creative Software Engineer, with a strong UX / UI focus to join our London team on a 9-12 month Fixed Term Employment Contract (to cover parental leave).
What You'll Do
- Interactive, Immersive Web Development: You will be owning creative web application builds, representing our technical excellence in front of the best-known in the movie industry.
- Independent Ownership: Ownership of the complete development lifecycle of your projects from development/QA to project activation.
- Technical Discovery & Scoping: You will collaborate closely with our creative and dev teams on new concepts, proposing the best technical solutions or executions for each idea.
- R&D: Support research & development with the labs team to bring the latest technologies and innovation to Powster creative activations.

Powster is a creative studio based in London and Los Angeles. We specialise in creating world‑class interactive digital experiences and marketing campaigns for major movie studios, broadcasters, music artists, brands and streamers. Our work ranges from high‑concept websites and large‑scale video productions to immersive AR experiences and cutting‑edge interactive activations. Requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Proven creative development experience: Minimum of 3 years as a software engineer with solid examples of creative web projects. Full ownership of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from ideation and collaboration through development, QA to delivery of web‑based applications.
- Portfolio: A creative portfolio demonstrating your range of experience.
- Technical stack: In‑depth knowledge and commercial experience with ThreeJS/WebGL and with the JavaScript environment (Node.js / React).
- Creative flair: Talent for translating beautiful static designs into interactive experiences, with a strong eye for detail.
- UI / UX: Mobile‑first approach to developing responsive, engaging web UI across mobile, tablet and desktop with commercial experience with SASS or similar CSS frameworks.
- Communication: Pride in communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Technology focus: Continuous self‑development, building things for your own benefit, always keeping up to date with emerging tech.
Nice‑to‑Haves
- WebGL: Interactive or immersive WebGL experiences.
- AR: WebAR development of web app activations with 8th Wall, Zappar or similar WebAR engines.
- 3D optimisation: Exposure to Unreal, Blender or other 3D software.
- AI experience: Knowledge or experience working with machine‑learning models/libraries (TensorFlow, Stable Diffusion, OpenAI, etc.) for AI‑driven activations.
