Checkout. com is looking for a Manager, Communications to join Checkout. com’s Communications and Content team.
This is the ideal role for a communications operator who thrives in high-growth scale-up environments – building media relationships from scratch, moving fast across owned and earned channels, and getting things done in an environment where pace and quality are key.
You’ll have 8-10 years of experience, ideally earned in high-growth tech or fintech, where you’ve learned to operate at speed, with a high-bar for quality, and accountability for outcomes.
You know how to work a story – finding the angle, placing it, and following through.
You're as comfortable writing a punchy press release at pace as you are briefing a journalist over coffee or building out a content calendar for the week ahead.
You can work with senior stakeholders on complex messaging challenges, while having the ability to zoom into tactical details, content review, social media, and more.
- How You'll Make An Impact
- Owned channels: You treat owned content as a serious comms channel. You can write and shape content that serves a clear audience and business goal.
- Earned media: You can identify a strong story, find the right journalist or influencer, build the relationship, and land the coverage across trophy, business, and tech press.
- Press office: Keep the engine running by managing inbound, coordinating interviews, hitting response SLAs, and building positive relationships with media.
- Analyst and influencer relations: Support our ongoing work with analysts and new media voices that matter in fintech and payments, proactively, not reactively.
- Multi-channel communications: You're used to juggling different comms projects, from a deadline-driven press moment to a campaign build to a reactive brief without losing quality or composure.
- AI-augmented output: You use AI tools as a genuine productivity multiplier, knowing where they add pace and where the human edit matters.
- Awards and recognition: Work with our team to identify the right opportunities, writing compelling submissions, and supporting the management of our awards calendar.
- Reporting: Track what's working, know why it is, and use it to sharpen the next move.
What We're Looking For
- 8-10 years in communications, with meaningful time in high-growth tech, fintech, or startup environments. In-house experience is strongly preferred.
- A proven track record of placing stories, not just writing them.
- Strong writing across formats: press releases, pitches, briefing docs, social copy, short-form content, all at pace.
- Comfortable with journalists, analysts, and influencers. You build real relationships.
- Operationally sharp. You run a tight press office, manage multiple workstreams, and don't miss deadlines.
- Self-starting and resilient. You don't need a lot of hand-holding, and you know how to navigate ambiguity.
- Data-aware. You use analytics to understand performance and adjust, not just report numbers upward.
- Additional Information
- Bring all of you to work

We work as one team, and we back each other to succeed. So whatever your background or identity, if you’re ready to grow and make a difference, you’ll be right at home here.
