VisitScotland is Scotland’s National Tourism Organisation, and we’re proud to promote the wealth of incredible features our country has to offer. Our aim is to benefit Scotland by growing its tourism industry and giving it a renowned presence in the global marketplace.

The Marketing Directorate supports delivery of the Scottish Government’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation, alongside the Tourism Strategy (Scotland Outlook 2030) and the Events Strategy (Scotland the Perfect Stage), through an integrated approach spanning both business‑to‑business and business‑to‑consumer marketing. This includes advising the industry on products and channels, investing in key markets to drive demand, and promoting platforms that connect Scotland’s tourism offering with target audiences.

Within this, the Market and Business Development department plays a vital role in linking tourism products and experiences to the right distribution channels, fostering sustainable growth in the visitor economy. Its Market Development teams work to influence intermediary partners and in‑market stakeholders, using targeted insights to shape offerings that support responsible tourism—delivering higher value, reducing seasonality, spreading visitors geographically, supporting communities, and lowering carbon impact.

The postholder will lead the research, identification and engagement of new intermediary and partnership prospects in assigned markets. They will manage key relationships with tour operators, travel agents, online travel agents, airline holiday programmes and DMCs, with the aim of increasing the visibility and availability of Scotland products in market. The role will focus on influencing key accounts to develop programmes that support VisitScotland’s priorities around seasonal and regional spread, higher‑value travel, inclusive and community focused travel, while also encouraging the development of lower carbon itineraries in support of net‑zero objectives.

The role will also support Scottish businesses to internationalise through the delivery of market development opportunities and by maximising participation in platforms such as VisitScotland Connect, business development missions and sales missions. Working closely with intermediaries and stakeholders, including VisitBritain teams, the postholder will gather and share market intelligence to inform VisitScotland’s market strategies, activity plans and wider Business Support programme.
