VisitBritain, as the official tourist board for England, Scotland, and Wales, is responsible for marketing Great Britain worldwide to prospective travellers. VisitEngland (VE) plays a unique role in developing English tourism through supporting business growth and informing industry with statutory research and insights, and engagement activities through events and communications. VB/VE also plays a unique role in building England’s tourism product, raising Britain’s profile worldwide, increasing the volume and value of tourism exports and developing Britain’s visitor economy. Serving as the national tourism board, VisitBritain is responsible for targeting international visitors to boost overseas visits and spend in the UK. Main Purpose of the Role The Tourism Affairs team manages political relationships for the organisation, working closely with civil servants and MPs to promote the political status of tourism policy and to demonstrate the value of the BTA and its activity. Joining a team of four, covering both policy and public affairs activity, the successful candidate will be required to work across policy and public affairs duties, working on large projects such as Select Committee responses and parliamentary events. There will also be a requirement to support on MP meetings, briefings, and communications and lead on the monitoring of political activity relevant to the organisation and its objectives. They’ll get the opportunity to work on a wide range of policy issues including devolution, short term lets registration, and UK border entry requirements.
