About the role
Here at the Westmorland Family we make all our food ourselves from fresh local ingredients including beef and lamb from our own farm at Tebay and carefully selected local suppliers to ensure the highest quality ingredients. Our main dishes are produced in our own Westmorland Kitchen which is based at Rheged, Penrith, where we produce pies, sauces, soups, stews, roasting meats, and all other varieties of food on offer across all our businesses.
Supporting our chefs, as a Production Team Member you will assist in all areas of food production in line with company standards and to recipe specifications as well as assisting with packaging and labelling. In addition, you will assist with all aspects of kitchen cleanliness, including the pot wash as well as offering assistance to the Stock Controller with receiving, checking and storing deliveries correctly whilst ensuring effective stock rotation. This is a kitchen where we produce good home made food with the best local ingredients in high quality, big batch production with a deadline to meet. Unlike the majority of kitchens, we work straight shifts with no splits and mainly during the day but can be flexible depending on the needs of a successful work/life balance.
About you
Previous food production experience would be desirable but we are open to hearing from people from all different backgrounds. You should be comfortable with handling and preparing food, long periods of standing, lifting and carrying as well as other tasks, including cleaning. You will need to work well as part of a team, be willing to get stuck in wherever needed and good communication skills will be essential.
About us
