WANTED! A Live Event Warehouse Technician & Driver

Job Summary: The job holder is responsible for prepping and picking correct equipment for specific jobs, assisting with the ongoing maintenance and care of technical equipment, and general warehouse duties to ensure a well organised and tidy warehouse operation as directed by the Floor Supervisor. They will also regularly drive company vehicles to/from site ensuring safe and timely delivery/return of kit to/from the warehouse. The warehouse technician/driver role provides an ideal foundation for individuals keen to learn and work with live event technical equipment.

Main Duties:

  • Select and prepare the correct equipment for each technical kit list
  • Ensure equipment picked is clean, labelled and in proper working order before being sent to site
  • Use warehouse software to scan equipment in and out for each job/dry hire to enable effective stock control for kit availability and location
  • Pack flight cases carefully to ensure safety of equipment in transit
  • Support Scenic team in wrapping/finishing scenic elements and loading on trucks
  • Load vehicles securely and in preferred order for site and unload vehicles on return
  • Ensure all equipment is returned in clean and working order to the correct shelving area
  • Separate equipment needing repair and label accordingly
  • Assist in regular stock control checks as required
  • Adhere to Warehouse H&S requirements at all times
  • Ensure all warehouse documentation and administrative processes are completed effectively
  • Assist in processing sub hired equipment, allocating to the correct job, ensuring collection/return and completing associated paperwork
  • Respond to last minute equipment requests from staff on site promptly and effectively
  • Ensure all dry hire returns are carefully processed and monitored to enable effective stock control, noting any missing equipment and/or return shortfalls and following up as necessary
  • Complete general warehouse duties including cleaning and tidying all warehouse areas
  • Provide ongoing basic maintenance of equipment including lighting, rigging, cabling, audio, video and power equipment

Driving:

  • Take end to end responsibility for safe transport of our kit to site from warehouse and back, including loading and unloading of kit at each end
  • Ensure care of our equipment in transit and during the loading/unloading process
  • Take care of our vehicles, ensuring any damage is reported in a timely way, and keeping the interior clean of debris
  • Comply with road, speed and parking regulations, taking a pragmatic approach where venue access and parking restrictions may apply
  • Liaise with Transport/Logistics team for full briefing of weight/size load limitations and appropriate routings prior to travel

Job Holder Requirements:

  • Experience in warehouse work ideally within the live events industry
  • Experience working with technical aspects of a combination of lighting, sound, video, rigging, staging and/or power equipment
  • Physically active and able to work at pace throughout the working day
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, team player
  • Full clean UK driving licence (LGV and/or forklift licence advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Resilient and able to exert additional effort to ensure every job is delivered to high standards
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve last minute problems quickly and pragmatically
  • Ability to prepare and operate a wide range of equipment
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn and assimilate new software
  • Communicates well with team members, being fluent in spoken and written English

Additional requirements:

  • The role is physically demanding and requires ability to work at height and lift heavy items
  • The job holder will be based at our Reading Warehouse and is expected to work flexibly according to workload, with some evening and weekend coverage required.
  • The job holder will need to pass stringent security checks for delivering kit to/from some of our prestigious accredited venues.
