Join Our Team as an SEN 1:1 Support Assistant with Vision for Education!
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs? Vision for Education is looking for dedicated SEN 1:1 Support Assistants to work with students who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a fantastic opportunity to provide personalised support to students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, and emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them thrive in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 Support: Tailor your approach to each student’s unique needs as outlined in their EHCP, supporting both their academic and personal development.
- Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to adapt strategies that meet the individual needs of each student.
- Create an Inclusive Learning Environment: Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging atmosphere where students feel valued and supported.
- Implement Positive Behaviour Strategies: Use trauma-informed practices and positive behaviour management to help students manage emotions and behaviours.
- Track Progress: Maintain accurate records of student progress, challenges, and any incidents, ensuring clear communication with the wider support team.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience with SEN Students: Ideally, you’ll have experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly those with EHCPs.
- Understanding of SEN Conditions: Familiarity with Autism, ADHD, and trauma-related behaviours, and confidence in using tailored support strategies.
- Great Communication Skills: The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Patience & Resilience: A passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and a genuine desire to see them succeed.
- Commitment to Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a dedication to maintaining a safe environment for all students.
- Relevant Qualifications: Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Health & Social Care are a bonus but not essential.
