Sight Support Derbyshire provides a wide range of sight loss services in Derbyshire. Most of these are delivered directly to blind and partially sighted people, others provide advice and support to families, carers, and other professionals. We also provide information to the wider public about good eye health, with the aim of reducing preventable sight loss.
As a Registered Charity (and a Company Limited by Guarantee), we are led and governed by our Board of Trustees. Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the charity’s resources are used for the purposes set out in our governing document (constitution).
We are currently looking to recruit Trustees to the Board. Meetings for Trustees are held six times per year at the SSD Head Offices in Derby and usually in the afternoons (2-4.00pm).
The main tasks of a Trustee are:
- To read the Board papers
- To attend the Board meetings and play an active role in decision making
- To maintain confidentiality on all issues
- To work as part of the Board in ensuring the continued success of the charity
Trustees are volunteers, but travel costs and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
We recognise that becoming a Trustee can be demanding but we believe that it is also enjoyable and worthwhile. Why not get in touch to find out more about the role and what the next steps are if you’d like to join our team?
