Are you passionate about making a difference in a charity where our mission is to improve the quality of life for local people with sight loss? We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, listening to people and supporting them to achieve what matters most to them.

This post is funded until 31st March 2027 through the National Lottery Community Fund, with plans to seek further funding to continue the service beyond this date. Closing Date: until such time that a suitable candidate is found.

We are seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others. This role is ideal for someone with experience in a community, health, care or voluntary sector setting who can build trusting relationships and deliver tailored support to individuals.

You will work alongside visually impaired people to understand their needs, strengths and aspirations, supporting them to achieve their goals, maintain independence and stay connected within their community. The role involves conducting assessments, developing support plans, identifying and responding to risks, and working collaboratively with families, professionals, and local organisations.

You must be confident working independently in a community setting and managing your own workload. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, values choice and wellbeing, and understands safeguarding principles. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds are essential. Experience with assistive technology or digital inclusion is welcome but not essential. A willingness to learn about sight loss and its challenges is required; full training will be provided.

You must be able to travel independently across the Ryedale area to meet members and attend community activities.
