Contract: Permanent

Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week (FTE 35 hours)

Work Pattern: 21 hours per week to be worked Monday-Friday. Hours of work to be agreed.

Location: SIA House, Milton Keynes with hybrid working available.

Salary: £35,040 per annum, FTE (£21,024 per annum actual for 21 hours per week).

About The Role

The Advocacy Caseworker will be responsible for providing Social Care and CHC casework and support to SCI people for a wide range of issues relating to their health care and independent living. Working with SIA teams and external partners and agencies they will also be responsible for improving the provision of services to SCI people. The data and case studies they collate will be central to both the work of the Campaigns and Fundraising teams and the wider SIA communications. This information will also assist with service and organisational development, identifying new trends and areas of unmet need.

Requirements:

  • At least one year experience of CHC and/or social care work.
  • Experience of working with government bodies such as social workers, NHS, etc.
  • Good understanding of relevant social policy, welfare rights, health and social care issues affecting people living with disabilities, particularly those with spinal cord injuries.
  • Ability to cope with challenging or emotional enquiries and enquirers.
  • Ability to prioritize a busy workload and explain complex information in an accessible way.
