Outreach Tutor/Teacher (SEN & SEMH) – Start ASAP £25–£35 per hour | 1–1 Home-Based Teaching | English & Maths (Primary or GCSE level) Location- Barking and Dagenham

We are seeking a dedicated Outreach Tutor/Teacher to work 1–1 with students who are currently on waitlists for specialist school placements or are at risk of exclusion. These learners have SEN and/or SEMH needs and require patient, tailored support to help them stay engaged in education.

About the Role

  • Provide 2 hours of teaching daily Monday to Friday term time: 1 hour of English and 1 hour of Maths per student.
  • Initially working with one student, with potential for your caseload to increase as new referrals come in.
  • Sessions take place either in the student’s home with a parent/carer present or at our purpose built tuition centre.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, individualised learning to support progress and confidence.
  • You must be able to teach both English and Maths up to GCSE level ideally but Primary levels will be considered.
  • I am also able to offer short-term and ad hoc tuition at times.

Ideal Candidates

  • Qualified teachers with SEN/SEND experience.
  • Anyone who has worked as an Outreach Tutor/Teacher and is comfortable with 1–1, home-based learning.
  • Professionals with outreach, alternative provision, or PRU experience.
  • Individuals who are patient, adaptable, and confident supporting students with SEMH needs.

Requirements

  • Experience working with SEN/SEMH students.
  • Able to teach English AND Maths - Must be both, not either/or.
  • Strong behaviour-management and relationship-building skills.
  • Reliable, consistent, and able to start ASAP.
  • Comfortable delivering tuition in the student’s home.

Pay

£25–£35 per hour (depending on experience)
