About the Role
We are seeking a Business Development Consultant to join the commercial team at Vision Survey. This is a newly created, development-focused role the first of its kind in the business built to drive intelligent, insight-led lead generation and consultative client engagement. This position is designed for a professional who wants to develop deep commercial capability, learn our services inside-out, and operate as a trusted advisor for prospects experiencing technical, compliance, or engineering challenges. It is solutions-based and consultative, never hard-sell success is achieved through listening, understanding customer pain points, and matching them with clear, credible, problem-solving outcomes.

Alongside hands-on experience, the role includes supported professional development through the Sales Executive Level 4 qualification, formalising your sales expertise while embedding you in real-world business development activity. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership, supporting early opportunity shaping, inbound enquiry management, consultative outreach, and proposal and bidding processes. You will also help communicate Vision’s value through insightful content that educates the market and positions us as a partner who solves complex environmental and engineering problems with credibility and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the single point of contact for all sales enquiries across telephone, email, video, and in-person channels
- Manage and maintain the CRM system with accurate and timely data
- Lead the creation of marketing content for digital and traditional channels
- Support the development of a structured sales process and assist with proposals and presentations
- Participate in bidding processes, including market engagement questionnaires, PQQs, and tenders
- Manage company profiles and documentation across procurement portals
- Build strong relationships with client supply chain and procurement managers
- Travel nationwide to meet with clients and attend site meetings
- Shadow the Managing Director during client meetings and negotiations
- Collaborate with Heads of Services and finance to align sales strategies
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to speak confidently with people at all levels
- Highly organised and methodical with excellent attention to detail
- Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative
- Enthusiastic and genuinely eager to learn and develop
- Full UK manual driving licence and flexibility to travel nationwide
- Comfortable with client-facing interactions and building relationships
- Team player who can also work autonomously
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Desirable:
- Basic understanding of marketing principles and sales processes
- Experience with CRM systems
- Interest in content creation and digital marketing
- Previous experience in customer-facing roles
Salary and Benefits
