Location: Valentines Park Security Compound, Cranbrook Road, Ilford, IG1 4TG (Travel required across borough parks)
Type: Fixed Term Contract (March 2026 to September 2026), Part Time (32 hours per week, variable shift starting times including weekends)
As a Mobile Park Ranger, you will provide a visible and professional presence across our parks, helping to ensure they are safe, clean, and enjoyable for all visitors. You will support community use, events, and environmental care while working closely with internal teams and external groups.
Responsibilities
- Secure parks and facilities at closing time
- Litter picking, bin emptying and maintaining cleanliness
- Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance using small tools
- Engaging with the public and supporting local events
- Reporting hazards, damage, or anti-social behaviour
- Driving between parks safely and responsibly
- Communicating effectively with the Parks team
Essential Requirements
- GCSE England & Maths or equivalent
- Experience in park maintenance, security, or similar outdoor work
- Experience in customer-facing roles
- Full UK Driving License (Category B)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Awareness of Health & Safety and risk assessment principles
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Physically capable of working outdoors in all weather
- DBS clearance may be required
Desirable
- Health & Safety Certification (e.g. IOSH)
- Experience using basic power tools and maintenance equipment
