The construction company based in Brentwood is looking for a Plant and Tool Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and distribution of all tools and plant equipment across the company or project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tool & Equipment Management
- Maintain and monitor tool inventory using Excel
- Ensure proper check-in/check-out procedures for tool issuance and returns
- Regularly inspect and service tools and small equipment
- Plant & Machinery Oversight
- Manage plant equipment scheduling and availability across projects
- Organize and oversee routine and emergency maintenance
- Ensure equipment certification and documentation are up to date
- Procurement & Budgeting
- Source and purchase new tools and equipment as needed
- Maintain cost control and avoid unnecessary expenditure
- Work with suppliers to negotiate pricing and service agreements
- Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain detailed logs of equipment maintenance, damage reports, and usage
- Generate regular reports on tool losses, damage, repairs, and budget spend
- Site Support & Compliance
- Collaborate with site teams to ensure timely delivery and retrieval of tools
- Train site operatives on the correct use of specialized tools and equipment
- Ensure all plant and tools comply with HSE (Health & Safety Executive) regulations
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar plant/tool or asset management role
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of H&S regulations (e.g., LOLER, PUWER)
- Mechanical or technical background is a plus
The salary will be negotiated based on experience. The candidate needs own transport due to the location not accessible by public transport.
