The Engagement Officer will play a key role within Vision Northumberland by providing coordination and support on a range of events, processes and initiatives to enhance the lives of sensory impaired people living in Northumberland. They will develop an essential link between the individual and the community, enabling people with a sensory impairment to live independently, happily and safely. The role works closely with key stakeholders: people with lived experience of sensory loss, Vision Northumberland’s groups across the county, and numerous collaborator/partner organisations/service providers and voluntary sector and public sector organisations. The Engagement Officer will be responsible for the implementation of Vision Northumberland’s Engagement Strategy and will report to the Operational Lead.
About Vision Northumberland: We are a respected local charity supporting several thousand sensory impaired people across Northumberland. Our services encompass one-to-one advice, information, advocacy, peer support groups and various activities. We work closely with health, social care, and community partners to ensure that sensory impaired people are recognised and supported. Our passionate and diverse team is dedicated to making Northumberland a better place for those with sensory impairments.
Skills Required:
- Understanding of sensory loss and the wider community.
- Experience in community engagement or community development roles with a passion for collaboration to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Sound stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience in event coordination.
- Experience in delivery of awareness training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office suite and CRM systems.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet challenging deadlines with judgement and robustness.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, as well as to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
