Our client is a fun and sociable creative agency based in the City of London. They are looking for a Finance Assistant to support the Financial Controller within a small team.
Reporting
Reports to: Financial Controller
Overall objective
Ensuring accurate day‑to‑day handling of all sales, purchase ledger, and cashbook tasks and transactions.

Day‑to‑Day tasks
- Purchase order raising
- Purchase invoice input
- Petty cash handling
- FX cash handling
- Daily bank account check on Barclays.NET
- Daily bank account reconciliations
- Posting cashbook transactions
Weekly tasks
Sales ledger
- Meet with Account Management staff, establish invoices to be raised, raise invoices and obtain invoice authorisation before sending to client
- Chase debtors when due
Purchase ledger
- Select supplier payees for weekly payments
- Obtain supplier payrun authorisation from directors and group
- Input supplier payruns on Barclays.NET
- Seek authorisations to payruns
Monthly tasks
- Calculate and reconcile month‑end income (accrued/deferred income)
- Assist in preparing 13‑week cash‑flow schedule to group (establish client receipts/supplier payments)
- Petty cash reconciliation
- FX cash reconciliation
- Reconcile purchase ledger with supplier statements
- Request staff complete and return expenses (chase if necessary)
- Distribute company credit card statements, chase if necessary, post to Paprika
- Make PAYE/NI payments to HMRC
Annually tasks
- Assist compiling audit pack and audit deliverables for auditors
- Liaise with auditors during on‑site audits
Other responsibilities
- Accurate and tidy filing (hard and soft copies)
- Contact HMRC for certificate of domicile when necessary
- Occasional manning of front desk/reception to cover on an ad hoc basis
Qualifications & requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Good attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Discrete, trustworthy and willing to learn
- UK National or relevant permissions to work in the UK
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar role
