A PMLD Teaching Assistant is required to support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties within a specialist SEND school in Walsall. This rewarding role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in sports, drama, performing arts or coaching who can use creativity, movement and engagement to help pupils access a highly sensory curriculum.
Mary Elliot Academy is looking to appoint an enthusiastic PMLD Teaching Assistant to support learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties and complex medical needs. Working alongside teachers and therapists, you will help deliver a sensory and engagement-based curriculum using movement, music, drama and physical activities to encourage communication, confidence and participation. You will also support pupils with personal care, mobility and therapy programmes within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team. This is a long-term role with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
- A background in sports, coaching, drama, performing arts or physical activity is highly desirable
- A willingness to support personal care and manual handling (training provided)
- A patient, creative and nurturing approach
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
