About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team to work with our reputable specialist SEND educational client schools in Burnley and nearby areas.
As an Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced skilled teaching and support professionals and contribute to the overall development and wellbeing of students with SEND needs. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting SEN students in their daily activities, including academic tasks and social integration.
- Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Supporting students with their emotional and behavioural needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Facilitating communication and interaction between students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Monitoring and recording students\’ progress and providing feedback to teachers and senior staff.
- Assisting with the preparation of learning resources and materials.

As a dedicated recruitment agency supporting schools across North Lancashire and South Cumbria, we work with a number of SEN and behavioural based schools in the area who are looking for full-time staffing options for both day-to-day, short-term options and long-term, temporary-to-permanent roles.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant you will:
- Be available 5 days per week during school hours (typically between 8:45am-3:15pm)
- Desirable to drive and have access to transport
- A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- The willingness to learn and develop new skills within an SEN environment.
- A supportive and nurturing approach towards student development.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to adapt to various learning technologies.
