Vision for Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated Design Technology Teacher to join a Good-rated secondary school in Tamworth on a 0.8 timetable from September 2026.

About the Role

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging students to develop their creativity, problem‑solving abilities and practical skills.

The successful candidate will teach on a 0.8 timetable, making this an ideal opportunity for teachers seeking an excellent work‑life balance while remaining fully involved in school life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high‑quality Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Inspire students to develop practical, creative and technical skills.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that meet the needs of learners of all abilities.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well‑managed classroom environment.
  • Assess, monitor and support student progress.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure health and safety procedures are followed within the workshop.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (essential).
  • Experience teaching Design Technology within UK secondary schools.
  • Ability to teach one or more Design Technology specialisms, such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering or Graphics.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A creative, practical and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
  • A genuine passion for Design Technology and helping students develop valuable life skills.
