We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Communication Support Worker (CSW) to join our team. This role involves supporting Deaf and hard of hearing individuals by facilitating effective communication through British Sign Language (BSL) and other appropriate communication methods. The successful candidate will hold BSL Level 3, or BSL Level 2 with relevant experience, and be confident supporting individuals in educational, workplace, or community settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide communication support using British Sign Language (BSL).
  • Interpret spoken information into BSL and vice versa as required.
  • Support individuals to access learning, training, meetings, and social activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and other professionals.
  • Adapt communication methods to meet individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, and equal access.

Person Specification

  • BSL Level 3 qualification, OR BSL Level 2 with proven experience in a support role.
  • Experience working with Deaf or hard of hearing individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices.
  • Experience in an educational setting.
