It is your role as a Cover Supervisor to encourage the class's learning, manage student behaviour, record accurate registers, and provide a handover to the absent teacher. Successful Graduate Cover Supervisors are adaptable, flexible, motivated, confident, and organised; they have a passion for education and supporting young people. You'll not be expected to be a subject expert on any topic, just providing a positive learning environment for all students to achieve the tasks set is key.

A Cover Supervisor will have the opportunity to work on a flexible schedule, either full‑time or part‑time. This role provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working within a Secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. With many of our schools being part of a training consortium, it's a huge head start for the short‑listing process! Although previous experience of working in childcare is desirable, it is not essential.

If you are new to the Graduate Cover Supervisor role, you will be offered a comprehensive Cover Supervisor Training Programme to equip you with the skills you need.
