About the role
Working with vulnerable and high-risk young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health and/or Complex Needs is specialist work requiring a specific skillset. We require experience, patience, resilience, and understanding. Work is challenging but rewarding, with opportunity to have a real and measurable impact, removing barriers to education for young people and supporting them within the educational setting – educationally and pastorally. We are seeking someone who can provide consistent and targeted support and at times, specific interventions. Some outreach work may also be required involving delivery of community-based and home-based learning and support, dependent upon the individual and their specific education package. This 1:1 Behaviour Support Worker role will be suited to a candidate who is an exemplary role model, with a calm demeanour, positive mindset and high aspirations for young people they work with. They will need to be organised, capable of taking initiative, adhering to policy and delivering some learning independently 1:1 or to small groups of young people.
About the school
This SEND school is based in the Kirklees area and is easily accessible via public transport. They support a diverse group of pupils with a range of complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties and challenging behaviours. There is also ample car parking. We are continually seeking quality caring staff members, who with additional experience and training may eventually become full-time or even supply support staff members.
Requirements
- Recent experience obtained within the last 2 years, of working with children or young people, ideally within a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, play or care setting. We must be able to obtain references from these roles.
- Hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
