This specialist SEMH and SEND school in Salford supports young people with social, emotional and mental health needs through a therapeutic and relationship‑based approach, helping pupils develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to succeed both academically and personally.

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and ambitious English lessons across Key Stage 4, including Functional Skills English and GCSE English Language. You will adapt learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, using creative and flexible teaching strategies to promote progress, engagement and a lifelong appreciation of reading, writing and communication.

Working closely with the Head of School and a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in embedding a therapeutic ethos across the provision. Through strong relationships, high expectations and consistent practice, you will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, raise aspirations and achieve positive outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Hold a recognised UK teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
  • Have experience teaching English at secondary level, including GCSE English Language and/or Functional Skills English
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, alternative provision or additional learning barriers
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management, communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Use assessment and evidence‑informed teaching strategies to support progress and raise attainment
  • Work effectively with pupils, families, colleagues and external agencies to support positive outcomes
  • Show a commitment to inclusive, pupil‑centred education and high aspirations for every learner
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to contribute to enrichment activities where required
