We are seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic
Catering Assistant to join a dedicated team within a specialist SEN school.
This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a positive dining experience for pupils with a range of additional needs, helping to ensure they receive nutritious meals in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
Working alongside the Catering Manager, you will assist with the preparation, serving, and cleaning of meals while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and refreshments.
- Set up and clear down dining areas before and after service.
- Support pupils during mealtimes, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures at all times.
- Wash kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery, ensuring cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Replenish food and beverage supplies as required.
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen and dining area.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to meet the needs of pupils.
About You
We are looking for someone who
- Drives and has access to own vehicle
- Is friendly, approachable, and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Has previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service.
- Understands the importance of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Has a patient, caring, and respectful approach when working around children and young people with special educational needs.
- Is reliable, punctual, and able to work in a busy environment.
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate.
