We are seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic

Catering Assistant to join a dedicated team within a specialist SEN school.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a positive dining experience for pupils with a range of additional needs, helping to ensure they receive nutritious meals in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.

Working alongside the Catering Manager, you will assist with the preparation, serving, and cleaning of meals while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and refreshments.
  • Set up and clear down dining areas before and after service.
  • Support pupils during mealtimes, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures at all times.
  • Wash kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery, ensuring cleanliness standards are maintained.
  • Replenish food and beverage supplies as required.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen and dining area.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to meet the needs of pupils.

About You

We are looking for someone who

  • Drives and has access to own vehicle
  • Is friendly, approachable, and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Has previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service.
  • Understands the importance of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Has a patient, caring, and respectful approach when working around children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Is reliable, punctual, and able to work in a busy environment.
  • Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate.
