Vision for Education is recruiting Trainee Youth Workers Within Schools to work across primary, secondary and specialist schools in the Melksham (SN12) area. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your transferable skills in a school environment while gaining valuable classroom experience.

As a Trainee Youth Worker Within Schools, you'll work alongside experienced school staff, supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom to help them engage with learning, build confidence and achieve their potential. Depending on the school, your role could look different. You may be assigned to a pupil on a 1:1 basis or asked to assist in the general classroom within a resource-based or unit.

About the Role

As a Trainee Youth Worker Within Schools, you may:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support children with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and support staff throughout the school day

To be considered for this Trainee Youth Worker Within Schools role, you should:

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children and young people
  • Be patient, resilient and a positive role model
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have experience working with young people through youth work, coaching, care, mentoring or similar settings (desirable but not essential)
  • Be willing to undertake relevant training and professional development
  • Be able to provide suitable references
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check
  • Have the Right to Work in the UK
